Mine Construction Alliance S.R.O. carried out works to construct the “Skipovoy” mine shaft at the Zarmitan mine of JSC Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combinat.

The facility is part of the investment project to develop the lower horizons of the Zarmitan deposit and its underground infrastructure.

About the Project

The “Skipovoy” shaft is a vertical mine shaft designed to operate as part of the underground production complex of the Zarmitan mine.

Construction of the new shaft is linked to the development of the deposit's lower horizons and the formation of the mine infrastructure required for the further operation of the underground complex.

As part of the facility's development, the “Skipovoy” shaft was connected with the “Glavny” shaft, which was deepened to 1,000 metres.

Works by Mine Construction Alliance S.R.O.

Mine Construction Alliance S.R.O. acted as the contractor for the construction of the “Skipovoy” mine shaft at the Zarmitan mine.

The company participated in the delivery of the facility across several stages of construction.

Back in 2022, NMMC officially reported that the shaft had reached a depth of 1,000 metres as a result of two years of joint work with Mine Construction Alliance S.R.O.

On 30 April 2025, the opening and commissioning of the “Skipovoy” shaft took place; government and corporate sources confirm a depth of 1,000 metres and a diameter of 6.5 metres.

The project is one of MCA's key facilities as part of the development of the underground infrastructure of the Zarmitan deposit.

Connection with the “Glavny” Shaft

The “Skipovoy” and “Glavny” shafts are separate mine shaft facilities with their own technical characteristics and scope of works.

As part of the development of the deposit's lower horizons, the “Glavny” shaft was deepened to 1,000 metres and connected with the “Skipovoy” shaft.

This connection is part of the formation of the mine's interconnected underground infrastructure.

The technical characteristics of “Glavny” are not transferred to “Skipovoy”, and vice versa.

Significance of the Facility

The construction of the “Skipovoy” shaft is part of the development of the lower horizons of the Zarmitan deposit.

The facility expands the system of vertical mine shaft structures and is linked to the further development of the mine's underground production complex.

Commissioning of the facility improved the efficiency of ore transport and reduced operating costs; the project created 90 new jobs, and the officially stated annual economic effect amounts to 19.2 billion UZS.

The project is designed to produce up to 1.4 million tonnes of gold-bearing ore per year, with subsequent delivery to Hydrometallurgical Plant No. 4.

Within the System of Zarmitan Projects

“Skipovoy” is one of three confirmed mine shaft projects of Mine Construction Alliance S.R.O. at the Zarmitan mine.

Together with the deepening of the “Glavny” shaft and the construction of the No. 10 “Slepoy” vertical shaft, the facility forms the company's confirmed portfolio of works to develop the deposit's vertical mine shaft infrastructure.

Each of these facilities is a separate Project and retains its own confirmed technical characteristics.
