“Glavny” Shaft

Mine Construction Alliance S.R.O. carried out works to deepen the “Glavny” mine shaft at the Zarmitan mine of JSC Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combinat.

The project is part of the development of the deposit's underground infrastructure and the development of its lower horizons.

About the Project

As part of the project, the “Glavny” shaft was deepened to 1,000 metres.

Deepening an existing mine shaft makes it possible to develop underground infrastructure at new depth levels and to connect operating sections of the mine complex with the lower horizons.

During the development of the underground complex, the “Glavny” shaft was connected with the Skipovoy shaft, forming a process link between the two mine shaft facilities.

Mine Construction Alliance S.R.O.'s works on the “Glavny” shaft relate to the deepening of an existing vertical mine shaft structure as part of the operating underground infrastructure of the Zarmitan mine.

The project was delivered within a system of interconnected facilities for the development of the deposit's lower horizons.

The connection of “Glavny” with the Skipovoy shaft is a confirmed result of the corresponding stage of the underground complex's development.

Features of Deepening an Operating Shaft

Unlike the construction of a new shaft, deepening is carried out as a continuation of an existing mine shaft structure.

Such a facility must be technically coordinated with the shaft's already established configuration, the operating underground horizons, and the related mine infrastructure.

Works to develop an existing shaft are part of the overall scheme for the further development of the deposit's deeper horizons.

Connection with the Skipovoy Shaft

The “Glavny” and Skipovoy shafts are separate mine shaft facilities and are presented on the website as separate projects.

As part of the development of the lower horizons of the Zarmitan deposit, the “Glavny” shaft was deepened to 1,000 metres and connected with the Skipovoy shaft.

When describing “Glavny”, the technical parameters of the Skipovoy shaft are not used: each facility retains its own confirmed characteristics.

Significance of the Project

The deepening of the “Glavny” shaft is part of the development of the underground infrastructure of the Zarmitan mine at the lower horizons.

Together with the construction of the Skipovoy shaft and the No. 10 “Slepoy” project, the facility is part of Mine Construction Alliance S.R.O.'s confirmed portfolio of mine shaft works at Zarmitan.

The three projects demonstrate the company's work on various vertical mine shaft construction tasks: construction of a new shaft, deepening of an existing shaft, and construction of a blind vertical shaft.
