“Skipovoy” Shaft Commissioned at the Zarmitan Mine

The "Skipovoy" mine shaft at the Zarmitan mine, put into operation

“Skipovoy” Shaft Commissioned

On 30 April 2025, the “Skipovoy” mine shaft was commissioned at the Zarmitan mine — one of the key facilities in the development of the underground infrastructure of the Zarmitan deposit.

The shaft was built as part of the investment project to develop the deposit's lower horizons. Mine Construction Alliance S.R.O. participated in the delivery of the facility.

The commissioning of “Skipovoy” was the next stage in the project’s development following the shaft’s reaching a depth of 1,000 metres.

Key Parameters of the Facility

The depth of the “Skipovoy” shaft is 1,000 metres, and its diameter is 6.5 metres.

The facility's production capacity allows up to 1.4 million tonnes of ore to be hoisted to the surface per year.

The speed of the skip hoisting conveyances is 11.7 m/s.

The shaft is intended to operate as part of the mine's underground production infrastructure and to transport the extracted ore.

Development of the Lower Horizons of Zarmitan

The construction of “Skipovoy” is linked to the development of the lower horizons of the Zarmitan deposit and the development of the enterprise’s mine infrastructure.

The commissioned facility ensures the hoisting of the extracted ore to the surface, with the ore subsequently directed to Hydrometallurgical Plant No. 4 of the Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combinat.

The project is part of the consistent development of the production system of the Zarmitan mine at greater depths.

Production Capabilities

The commissioning of the new shaft forms additional infrastructure for transporting ore from the lower horizons of the deposit.

The design capacity of the shaft is up to 1.4 million tonnes of ore per year.

The high-speed hoisting system ensures the movement of the skip conveyances at speeds of up to 11.7 m/s.

Participation of Mine Construction Alliance S.R.O.

Mine Construction Alliance S.R.O. participated in the delivery of the “Skipovoy” shaft construction project at the Zarmitan mine.

The works on the facility are part of the company's confirmed portfolio of mine construction in Uzbekistan.

“Skipovoy” is presented on the Mine Construction Alliance S.R.O. website as a separate project alongside the “Glavny” and No. 10 “Slepoy” shafts.

Jobs and Economic Effect

The delivery of the project made it possible to create 90 new jobs.

According to the Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combinat, the expected annual economic effect from the facility’s operation amounts to 19.2 billion UZS.

Development of the Mine Complex

The commissioning of the “Skipovoy” shaft completes an important stage in the formation of the vertical infrastructure for the development of the lower horizons of the Zarmitan deposit.

The facility is linked to the further development of the underground mine complex and operations at a depth of 1,000 metres.

As part of the development of Zarmitan’s infrastructure, the “Skipovoy” shaft is also linked to the “Glavny” shaft, which was deepened to a level of 1,000 metres.
