The flagship of the mining industry of Uzbekistan, Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combinat, is implementing an investment project “Development of the lower levels of the mining complex based on the deposits of Zarmitan gold ore zone”. As part of this project, Mine Construction Alliance s.r.o acts as a contractor and carries out construction of vertical Skip shaft and Main shaft of Zarmitan mine on a turnkey basis.

Zarmitan mine is engaged in developing of Charmitan deposit, which has been opened with four vertical shafts: Main mine shaft, Secondary shaft, the shaft #3 and the shaft #10. Currently the mine has reached its design capacity for ore extraction.

The implementation of a new investment project was launched to replenish the exhausting capacities of Zarmitan gold ore zone mines. Taking into account the reduction of the hauling distance of the ore mass on the background of lower mining operations and deepening of producing levels, and for the sake of improvement of the ventilation scheme, the new project for the development of the lower levels provides for construction of 1000 meters deep vertical Skip shaft and deepening of existing Main shaft. Additionally, the blind shaft #10 will also pass in the eastern part of +600m level.

Mine Construction Alliance s.r.o will carry out construction of the Skip shaft and deepening of the Main shaft using the fast-track method. In particular, the Skip shaft will be equipped with two 7-cube skips with an output of 1,400 thousand tons of ore extraction per year. The Main shaft and the Blind shaft #10 will serve for lowering and lifting people, ore mining and providing the mine with fresh air. Mining equipment will descend and rise from NTS #1-3 to the lower levels, along with partial rock output and air ventilation.

The project employs over 200 people, of which more than 40 are Uzbeks, who were previously forced to work in Russia and Kazakhstan due to the lack of jobs. Now they are home, next to their families, and regularly receive decent wages.

A temporary administrative and amenity block has been deployed at the construction site, engineering networks and communications have been prepared, material and technical supplies have been organized, and necessary equipment and inventory has been purchased. In addition, there is a container filling station, Isuzu buses and Chevrolet Damas minivans.

All employees are provided with office, residential and utility blocks, three hot meals a day, as well as leisure activities.
